Job Title: Junior Web Developer

COmputing TechnologieS, Inc.(CoTs) is a Woman Owned Small Business specializing in Applicattion Development, IT Infrastructure and Enterprise Operations Services. CoTs is seeking an entry level Web Developer/Programmer to assist in the design, development, and maintenance of our international customer’s web-based application. This position is located in our Sterling, VA office with some teleworking.

PRIMARY DUTIES: Designing & developing new features/sections of the website. Developing front end client tools for data loading. Development and maintenance of the SQL Server database. Supporting functionality of current web-based tools. Continually modifying applications to meet changing needs of the customer. Continually modifying applications to correct unanticipated bugs. Other duties may be assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:  BS majoring in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or related discipline. Two years related job experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience. Technical experience and background in the following development languages and functional areas: ASP.NET, C#, HTML, CSS, GIS, JavaScript, MS Access, MS SQL Server, XML, Web Accessibility Compliance (Section 508 and AAA).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a minimum of two years experience with web-based application programming and languages, architecture, infrastructure, and technologies (ASP.NET, HTML, CSS, GIS, MS Access, MSSQL, and JavaScript); with a strong experience-based understanding of the software life cycle of planning, design, implementation, and support. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and technical periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Excellent presentation and communication skills (oral and written). Ability to interact with all levels of management including Senior Management. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Applying concepts of algebra and geometry.

  • Applying advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations is a plus.

  • Applying mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis is another plus.


REASONING ABILITY:

  • Solving practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.


COMPUTER SKILLS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience with Microsoft: Visual Studio, SQL Server, Access, Excel, IE, IIS, and Word software.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  MCSD or MCAD preferred. U.S. Military equivalent experience or certifications accepted.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:   Must be available for occasional maintenance windows during non-standard hours.  Position requires occasional foreign travel.
